Step Straight onto the Trail
Thanks to our location at 8 Karłowicza Street, St. Anthony House is one of the best places in Zakopane for hiking enthusiasts. Situated in the peaceful south-eastern part of the town, it allows you to avoid the busy town centre and reach the entrance to the Tatra National Park directly—without the need for a car or local shuttle buses.
Kuźnice – The Main Gateway to the Tatra Mountains
Walking distance: approx. 1.4 km (20–25 minutes)
Why choose it?
Kuźnice is the main starting point for many of the most spectacular hiking routes in both the High Tatras and the Western Tatras. Instead of queuing for shuttle buses from the town centre, you can simply leave the house and reach the park entrance on foot in about 20 minutes.
Popular trails from Kuźnice:
- Hala Gąsienicowa and Black Lake (Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy) via the blue trail (through Boczań) or the yellow trail (through Jaworzynka Valley).
- Kasprowy Wierch via the green hiking trail beneath the cable car.
- Giewont and the Czerwone Wierchy (Red Peaks) via Hala Kondratowa.
Nosal (1,206 m) – The Quickest Scenic Summit
Walking distance: approx. 550 m (8–10 minutes)
Why choose it?
Nosal is an excellent choice for a short mountain hike, an early sunrise walk, or an evening excursion. The ascent from Kuźnice or the Tamida area is relatively short, although moderately steep in places. From the summit, you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views over Hala Gąsienicowa, the surrounding valleys, and the Tatra peaks.
Olczyska Valley (Jaszczurówka) – A Peaceful Forest Walk
Walking distance: approx. 2.4 km (30–35 minutes)
Why choose it?
A quieter alternative to the more crowded Kościeliska and Chochołowska Valleys. The gentle green trail follows the Olczyski Stream to Olczyska Meadow, from where you can continue towards Kopieniec Wielki or Nosal Pass. It’s an ideal option for a relaxing walk, family outing, or a day when the weather in the higher mountains is less favourable.
